I have a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta and am a Registered Provisional Psychologist. I use a client-centered approach to therapy with the goal of helping people explore their sense of ‘self’ and the development of the ‘self’. The ‘self’ changes over time and can be difficult to consolidate with emotions, experiences, and trauma. Said another way, I hope to invite questions such as ‘who am I?’, ‘what happened?’, ‘have I changed, or do I need to?’, and ‘is change possible?’. I hope to provide an honest and safe space, fostering courage for you to navigate life and create the life you want.

Using an integrative, client-centered approach, I combine elements of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and other therapeutic models to formulate an approach on a person-by-person basis.

I have experience working with individuals suffering from depression and anxiety, borderline personality disorder and emotion dysregulation; parents of neurodiverse children; young adults and adults navigating life transitions; those experiencing grief; and couples who desire to strengthen their relationship.

One of my areas of interest is working with and providing support to parents and adult family members of those with a disability, disorder, and/or mental health struggles. I believe that those who support loved ones benefit from support too. I am also passionate about education and information - I hope to both educate, and be educated by clients in a way that helps us develop as empathetic and informed individuals.

I would be honoured to work with you.

Previous to that, I was part of an interdisciplinary team that conducted psychological assessments within a psychiatric facility. There I developed a passion for assessment and working with clients who present with complex trauma and concurrent disorders. As a counsellor, I utilize a strengths-based and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) approach, to identify and build upon existing resources and resiliency to promote positive change. In addition to counselling, I specialize in providing psychoeducational, behavioural, intellectual, and ADHD assessments.

I am a Registered Provisional psychologist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta. My approach to therapy emphasizes the importance of confronting our painful emotions and experiences from a place of safety, curiosity, and honesty. My hope is that by approaching therapy in this way, you will have the opportunity to develop your individual strengths and foster personal growth. Although therapy can be a terrifying prospect for many, my goal is to provide you with a safe haven where you can explore your struggles without fear of being judged or rejected.

I rely on an integrative approach to therapy that combines elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness based approaches, and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). I also have training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). I work with clients around a number of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger management, self-esteem and self-worth, stress management, marital distress, and communication concerns. I also provide skills training in the areas of distress tolerance, emotion regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. Ultimately, I believe that evidenced based practices used in concert with an environment that promotes safety, acceptance, collaboration, and support is crucial for therapeutic success.

I work with individuals and couples as well as teens and youth. I also have a special interest in working with men. I believe that men are often under resourced when it comes to accessing, expressing, and understanding their emotions, often leading to painful, yet avoidable, experiences. As a former oilfield tradesman, I routinely witnessed firsthand the impact that emotional restriction and social conditioning has on many men. Lastly, I am also passionate about working with couples who are experiencing distress within their relationship and who are looking to strengthen the quality of their bond with each other. The pursuit of love is of the highest magnitude and something that I hold dearly. I will strive to facilitate a deeper level of connection and understanding between you and your partner and will work to help you to develop the necessary skills to find and maintain peace and love within your relationship. I welcome the chance to work with you. See you soon!

Hello there, and welcome! My name is Emma, I am so happy you are here!

I approach my role as a counsellor from a collaborative, warm, safe, and non-judgmental space. I value authenticity in the therapeutic relationship and deeply honour the individuality each client brings into the room. I often describe therapy as a shared process: you bring your story, and I bring tools, perspective, empathy, and genuine human connection.

My approach draws on evidence-based modalities, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Together, these approaches support clients in building practical emotion regulation skills, strengthening relationships, developing resilience in the face of hardship, and moving toward meaningful, values-aligned change.

I work with teens and adults navigating a wide range of concerns including neurodiversity (ADHD, ASD, and related experiences), self-esteem, confidence, and self-compassion, identity and life transitions, gender and sexuality exploration, trauma, anxiety, OCD, burnout, depression, emotional regulation, chronic illness, grief, and stress. My approach is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each individual’s unique experiences and goals.

I’m honoured to walk alongside clients in their journey. It would be a privilege to support you as we explore your experiences, uncover your strengths, and move toward what feels possible in your life.

I am a registered psychologist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. The primary focus of my practice is on complex, developmental, and/or relational trauma. Many of my clients have experienced prenatal trauma, childhood abuse and/or neglect, attachment disruptions (e.g., adoption, foster care), relationship betrayal, narcissistic abuse, and/or religious trauma. I also work with clients experiencing a range of mental health concerns and life challenges (e.g., anxiety, grief, emotional difficulties, transitions, stressors, etc.).

I am particularly passionate about working with adolescents and young adults (ages 11 - 25) because I genuinely like who they are. As Fredrik Backman wrote, they are “the best kind of human.” I also enjoy working with parents, couples, and individual adults. My clients come from a range of cultural intersections and minority populations. I am privileged to work with members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities; I am also a NIHB provider. My clients can trust me to offer post-colonial, justice-oriented, and diversity-affirming care.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship and the human witness of the therapist are themselves a primary intervention. I practice therapy as my authentic human self; I am attentive to my nervous system and intuition, and attuned to my client’s nervous system and communications. My work with clients is not just what we talk about, but also what happens in the room between us. My therapeutic approach is person-centred, trauma informed, intersubjective, and wholistic. In terms of specific frameworks, I incorporate attachment theory, depth psychology, emotionally-focused therapy, neuropsychology, polyvagal theory, psychodynamic theory, somatic therapy, and systemic therapy.

I love my work and consider it a privilege to be with my clients as they come to know and care for themselves as relational beings and as individuals who belong, most importantly, to themselves.

I am a Provisional Psychologist who completed my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Alberta and my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Prior to my training as a psychologist, I worked with at-risk children, youth, and families—experiences that continue to shape my trauma-informed, relational, and strengths-based approach to therapy. This work deepened my understanding of how adversity, loss, and grief can impact individuals across the lifespan, while also reinforcing my belief in each person’s capacity for resilience and growth.

I believe that while everyone experiences periods of struggle, each person also holds innate strengths and a deep capacity for resilience, healing, and growth. In my work, I aim to create a supportive and welcoming space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences while developing greater insight, self-understanding, and confidence.

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. My approach honours you as the expert of your own life. I strive to create a safe, empathetic, supportive, and non-judgmental environment, taking the time to deeply understand your experiences and collaborate with you on a plan that reflects your goals. My practice is a mix of both traditional talk therapy as well as body-based and skills-focused interventions to support nervous system regulation and create meaningful change.

My clients are most often teens and adults who are looking for support with trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and burnout. I am especially drawn to working with people who notice their stress or emotions showing up in their bodies, and who want to feel more regulated and connected again. I value the role of movement and body-based approaches in healing, and I continue to deepen my learning in somatic ways of supporting both emotional and physical well-being.

A key part of my practice is Brainspotting Therapy, a trauma-focused, neurobiological approach that supports the brain and body in processing unresolved experiences. I have a particular interest in using Brainspotting with individuals experiencing emotional dysregulation and chronic pain, as well as those who are navigating anxiety, performance pressure, and burnout related to career or sport. In addition to Brainspotting, I use interventions and methods such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

My work is informed by a strong understanding of how trauma, attachment, and early experiences can shape emotional and physical functioning over time. Prior to my work in psychology, I was an elementary teacher. This background continues to play a role in my understanding of development, attachment, the nervous system, and the long-term impact of early experiences.

I believe the relationship you build with your therapist is one of the most important for creating meaningful change in your life. I consider it a privilege to work alongside each of my clients, and I welcome the opportunity to support your journey.

I am a Registered Psychologist with a Masters Degree in Counselling through City University of Seattle in Canada where my capstone topic was how couples support each other as they grieve perinatal loss.

I believe people desire to grow, and talking with a supportive clinician helps them to process thoughts and feelings. This in turn helps clients to gain new insights, perspectives, and understandings, leading to a healthier mental/emotional existence. When individuals get sidetracked by life’s challenges, those challenges need not be faced alone. I an ally to the LGBTQ2S+ community, and seek an empathetic and non-judgmental understanding to all of my client’s situation to collaboratively inspire hope and gain tools needed to move forward. I believe helping clients reduce their negative self-talk and challenging thoughts and feelings can enable them to achieve their goals and live a life that reflects their values.

I provide treatment for individuals, families, and couples from ages 12 to 65+ with issues presenting in, but not limited to anxiety, grief and loss, self-esteem and identity, boundaries, conflict resolution, depression, anger, emotional regulation, life transitions, and self-compassion.

I specialize in couples with issues in relationship and parenting. Whether someone is newly pregnant, has recently welcomed a little one, or is suffering from adversity in growing their family whether through loss or infertility, I can affirm how they feel in these overwhelming experiences, and provide strategies to help face the “hard stuff” of parenthood. Couples may especially benefit with finding ways to increase communication and intimacy in their relationships as they now take on the roles of both partners and parents.

My integrative therapeutic approach is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Existential Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method.

I am a Registered Psychologist with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I believe we’re all striving to create a meaningful, values-aligned life. In our work together, we’ll start by learning who you are and what matters to you. I take a trauma-informed, collaborative approach — together, we’ll identify your goals and figure out what works best to help you reach them.

Who I Work With

I enjoy working with people navigating life or identity transitions — career changes, life stage transitions, exploring sexual identity, or relationship changes. Having spent the better part of a decade working with survivors of intimate partner violence, I understand the role confusion that can accompany a big life change. People moving into a new phase of life often experience grief, anger, shame, or other difficult emotions. Together, we’ll explore how your past experiences may be shaping your understanding of the change, and work to build meaning and hope for the future.

My background in the trauma field means I have a particular affinity for working with social workers, nurses, paramedics, and first responders, who often carry heavy burdens in service of our community. I also enjoy working with adults navigating late-diagnosed ADHD or autism, especially women learning to integrate this into their identity.

How We’ll Work Together

I frequently use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to address traumatic incidents and emotions that feel “stuck.” Much of my work is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a third-wave cognitive-behavioral approach focused on bringing value and meaning into your life while addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, and difficult thoughts or emotions. I also draw on Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I enjoy incorporating visual interventions into our sessions — we might create art, use visual charts, map out difficult decisions, or bring in other visuals to gain a clearer understanding of what you’re facing.

My Hope for Our Work Together

At the end of the day, therapy is about building a relationship with another human who understands that life can be messy. I hope we can walk that path together — to find joy, meaning, and maybe even laugh at the messy bits along the way. I look forward to hearing your story.
